There are many components to the expense associated with adoption, one of which is legal fees for a knowledgable attorney who knows how to legally create the parent-child relationship between adoptive parents and the child they adopt. These fees are drastically reduced or eliminated through the charitable purpose of Luciano’s Light. The only expense to you is related to the filing fee and other costs of the adoption. In some cases, Luciano’s Light may be able to pay those too!
Legal fees are not the only fees associated with adoption, however. Home studies, agency fees, and birth mother expenses add to the cost. Adoption agencies assist women with unplanned pregnancies find appropriate resources and get the social support they need to make decisions about placing their child for adoption. These agencies pay to advertise their services so birth mothers will know where to seek assistance, they employ social workers to provide therapeutic services to these women and their partners during the period of the pregnancy and sometimes, beyond, and they engage in the tireless process of facilitating the meeting and matching of these birth parents with prospective adoptive parents. The overhead of running these agencies can still be substantial, and many of those costs get passed along to the adoptive parents. Further, social workers and other psychological professionals assess the appropriateness of prospective adoptive parents’ homes to make sure they are equipped for adding a child to their family. These professionals also charge a fee to generate the home study report necessary for adoption.
That’s where adoptive parents can benefit from the community partnerships of Luciano’s Light. Luciano’s Light is always in the process of actively forming relationships with psychological professionals who perform home studies and adoption agencies who match birth parents to adoptive parents. For the adoptive parents, in some cases, the fees of these necessary professionals and agencies may be reduced if you are a client of Luciano’s Light. While Luciano’s Light can provide resources to help adoptive families and birth mothers find each other, we are not an adoption agency.
